Brilliant Color

I was sorting images today, and was struck by how vivid the fall leaves were this year, even in town. Now that the leaves are all off the trees and it's so grey and dull, I thought I would post this photo of brilliant red leaves. I took this on an afternoon walk during my lunch break in early October.

Sharon Springs, NY

Back in August Mooski and I took a road trip to Sharon Springs, NY. While poking around the abandoned Hotel Adler my camera inexplicably switched to a black and white setting. I've never taken black and white photos and didn't even know my camera did that. I finally noticed after taking this pic of Margery standing under the rickety bridge to nowhere. Reviewing this particular pic I noticed it lacked the deep greens of the background and started going through my menus. I found the errant setting about six clicks in, no way I could have inadvertently done this myself???

Going back through my pictures the walk up to the Adler were all in color, and the very first photo taken of the hotel was in black and white. One more for the mystery book, eh?

Now - with my color settings restored -

Faces in the clouds

Lazy Indian Summer

Margery, Al, Isabella and myself took some time relaxing at Lake Lonely where the wee Bella thought she could charge unhindered into the lake by herself. No fear. She was fascinated with dry, golden leaves, and twigs, but then Bella made many trips over to me to wipe the sand from her hands, she didn't like the way it stuck to her skin.

Sweet, sweet summer

It's raining again, dark and dreary, so I wanted to post a pic from Labor Day weekend. What a perfect summer weekend that was.

I slept in, had coffee outside while I read Perdido Street Station. I washed MINI Moo, took some pictures and then it was martini time, garlic stuffed olives and all. Yea martini time!

Storm Clouds

Every evening this past week, at 5 pm, storm clouds materialize and pour forth heavy monsoon rains. Usually while I walk to my car. Nice!

Saturday morning breakfast while listening to the Philadelphia Ochestra rehearsal at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Good music, good coffee, good food, beautiful day. Sweet.

Curious

This guy wasn't so much curious as he was pissed off Wasabi was prowling around the front yard, but I like his curious pose.

The Clown

Bella is developing her sense of humor. Thanks to the guidance of her supremely-funny grandfather, she's going to be quite the funny person as an adult.

For the love of summer

Bella, unlike her father, loves being outside. At 18 months she already appreciates kickin back and soaking in the summer. She has always loved watching the trees as they sway in the breeze, and today was no exception.
